My illustrations and interpretive projects illuminate lesser-known aspects of history and the natural world.

Angela Mele

Hi! I’m Angela—an interpretive planner and scientific illustrator.

My work takes me on unexpected adventures—into the depths of soil, archives of letterpress lovers, and slime mold biologists’ labs. My passion is to translate these little-known realms into visuals and experiences that connect people more deeply with places.

I am the co-owner of an interpretive planning and design company called Studio Understory, and I work for DCG/Watershed, a Washington-based landscape architecture and engineering firm.
